  What gives jewellery its meaning? Is it the material, the maker, or the memory it carries? This October, FiftySix turns its attention to how contemporary designers are redefining jewellery as a medium of storytelling, identity, and transformation.

  Nevena Jaftha [Tetkaz]

  Through Tetkaz, her macramé jewellery brand, Nevena Jaftha transforms knots and patterns into wearable expressions of meaning, exploring jewellery as an act of connection between maker, wearer, and world.

  Nadège Renée Cassar

  Nadège Renée Cassar — Jewellery as Transformation

  Working in Malta since 2005, Nadège Renée Cassar of Nadège.Renée creates unique and limited-edition pieces in gold, silver, and a mix of precious and everyday materials. Her work embraces transformation—whether in the form of new designs or in bespoke commissions that give existing treasures renewed life.

  FiftySix Design Talks is an exciting collaboration between The Golden Glitch and the Valletta Design Cluster. This dynamic partnership brings together artists, designers, and innovators for a series of talks that explore the intersection of tradition and modernity in design. It’s a space where time-honored crafts meet contemporary ideas, all hosted within the historic walls of Valletta.

  We need your help to make the 3rd Annual 

  Tinkering Day possible in April 2026!   

  Volunteers are needed to assist on these days and times:

  Friday April 10^th between 9am-5pm for setting up for the event.

  Sunday April12^th between 9am to 4pm to help set up, help during the event for keeping organized, directing foot traffic, answering questions from the public, helping out during activities and workshops and taking down the event.

  Monday April 13th between 10am-3pm to finish dismantling the event, moving furniture and getting organized.

  Members: The hours will count toward your contractual 10 hours a year members contribution, of course! Every bit helps and will be greatly appreciated! 

  Non-members welcome too!

  What is Tinkering Day?

  Get ready to ignite your creativity at the Valletta Design Cluster's 2nd Annual Tinkering Days! Inspired by the global Maker Movement, this exciting event celebrates the ingenuity and passion of local inventors, makers, and hobbyists of all ages.

  Join us on Sunday April 12th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Valletta Design Cluster.  You will find ongoing activities for all ages throughout the day, as well as workshops in crafts, painting, and baking and presentations on new technology. 

  Don't miss this chance to unleash your inner maker and become part of a thriving creative community!
