Join our Maker in Residence Divleena Singh on a journey of exploration, materiality and creative thinking through making!

Creativity is inherent in each one of us, but sometimes we need to exercise or practice it. By engaging with materials in an intentional and mindful way, we can unlock new idea`s. We will try unconventional combinations of common materials and try pushing the limits of what a particular material can do, by simple hands-on exercises.

Instead of directly making a ‘final object’, this workshop focuses on creating an opportunity for participants to engage in various material explorations. Through observation from all the senses, it is possible to discover unexpected outcomes and possibly invent new techniques for making.

By learning from material intelligence and synchronisation of thinking with making, the goal of this workshop is to tap into individual and collective creativity through an open-ended process.

This event will consist of:
  • a short presentation - Research through making: Exploring sculptural structures using tensegrity principles
  • a workshop - Using different materials, textures, forms and structural explorations, every participant can create their own unique objects, joineries or interesting mini-sculptures

Who is this event for?

Anyone from any background and age, ideally ages 10 and up, who wants to practice being creative in a hands-on way. Anyone with openness to ‘learning by doing’ and from each other’s thinking process.

*(One adult needs to accompany a maximum of two children.)

How?

We will provide diverse materials and participants can also bring materials they would like to use/explore/try experimenting with.

Join us for this dynamic hands-on experience and have the opportunity to leave the Cluster with your own creative experiment and new-found knowledge on improvised making!
